I have been prescribed Gaborpentin for nerve pain. I took 2 and the nerve pain is much reduced....should I stop or continue? I'm not sure if it is like a pain killer or it is only working because it's a course like antibiotics...confused!

Keep on with them, the work only when you have a constant level in your body.
You may get side effects which can be quite nasty.
Is it for Trigeminal Neuralgia?
I assume that you are taking it for Trigeminal Neuralgia and i will assume that you are taking 300mgms three times a day.

if my assumptions are incorrect, them forget my post.

Take the drug for one month and then gradually reduce the dose over a period of another 3 weeks.
If it is for TN and you do get continuing attacks and/or bad side effects from the Gabapentin speak to your Doc about Tegretol (Carbamazepine) which I have found to be more effective and less noxious than Gabapentin.
Also - you have my sympathy.
@Shoota - If you are a TGN sufferer you definiitely have my sympathies -My father has suffered from this for many years now, and it has been a battle to find the right dose of carbamazapine. He did change to pregbalin for a while, but he had to keep ramping up the dose for it to be an effective pain killer eventually he had to swap back to carbamazapine, and his current dose seems pretty low and is controlling the TGN well, but the downside is that he does seem to be drowsier and less alert than we all would like...
I can't speak for your condition but I take pregablin for fibromyalgia and have been sold it's similar to gabapentin (please correct me if I'm wrong someone).

It initially made me very drowsy, I felt drunk at first (though in a good way!) then pretty dozy and muzzy headed though it definitely took my mind off the pain, it was actually quite a nice comfort thing, just to be happily dozy :) I had to adjust a bit at work initially as I couldn't think or do things as fast but that has reduced over time and I don't notice anything now drowsiness wise. If you drive or do anything where it could be dangerous then do be careful initially, depending on dose, frequency etc...

I really hope it helps for you :)
