If you're talking the mythical ones, since the bottom half is that of a fish, perhaps its reasonable to assume they would have a "cloaca" which is a combined genital/ backside type arrangement...

Well what a coincidence, on June 2 2005 the DT had a short piece about the operation on a mermaid.
Their incidence is about one in a million to ten million births - I seem to recollect from a review I read in 1982. X ray may reveal only one femur, but clearly the one this year in Peru had fused legs.....[so had two]
With a single central femur the pelvic anatomy is gonna be very disturbed, and I notice someone has mentioned a cloaca (fused front and back passages)
So I can sum this up as mermaids have tushes but tiny ones, I suppose.....
