I've always shaved my legs "against the grain" but recently everything i read says to shave "with the grain".
What way do you girls do this and is this why i get inflamed hairs

I also shave against the grain, I have tried going with the grain but it didn't shave well at all.
I tried waxing a couple of month's ago and I can honestly say I have never known pain like it! and I've given birth twice!!! My husband came rushing up stairs to find out why I was screaming! I suprised myself as I thought I had a pretty high pain threashold!
The things we go thru eh?

On 'Queer eye for the straight guy' a few months back the gay 'beauty' advisor told the man to shave his face once downwards, with the grain, thwn back up, against the grain, then down again, with the grain. He had reasoning for it and it was something to do with getting it as short as poss and the final bit was to prevent irritation or something like that.
I can understand that on a mans face but I don't see how it can apply to a womans legs. I go against, I think everyone does.
I suppose I'd better make a stand for the "correct" way - I've always gone down the leg, with the hairs, as it recommends in various grooming books.
I switched to an epilator - if you use it a few days after you've shaved, there are only a few hairs through the surface that were immediately below when you shaved. So it doesn't hurt anything like waxing where you're removing hundreds at a time! A quick buzz over every two or three days seems to do the trick, you just get a slight prickling, not really pain. There are always epilators in boot sales, used once! by people who have tried to tackle a full growth, found it as painful as waxing (well it would be!) and vowed never again.
Epilator....... OMG it hurt so much had to get my mum to sit on my leg and do it for me then she only got a small square done before I said I was gonna kill her!!! I still cant believe I spent so much money on something that hurt so badly and I have only used once!! lol.
I always shave from the ankle up for a good smooth finish and I always rub a bit of talc on my legs after to stop then tingling and getting sore.
ive found that the best removal thingy is the razorless 3 minute cream. its gt no razor and it dont smell that bad. a little bit goes a long way. cos the hair was fairly long anyway when i used it, my legs stayed smooth 4 over a week. its not attall messy and is only about 4.50 in boots.(on special)! only prob is i cant find the refil mouse.!!!
i just got fed up of shaving!!!! bt when i do i got against the grain, bt it neva stays smooth!!grrrrr!!!
