He can't simply *surrender* to the NHS for medical/pharmaceutical treatment without addressing the issue himself.

He needs to seriously cut back on the drinking and smoking, and adopt a low-fat, low-sodium diet, as a matter of urgency.......and exercise more (brisk-ish walking will help).

That way he'll be helping himself get into the best shape possible to assist the GP in helping him.

Hi Fluff.....beetroot juice is good if BP is not too high. Even if it doesn't work he'll have nice red lips and scary wee.
Pomegranate is supposed to be good but I love beetroot juice.
Massage is good for lowering BP but can lead to other things and then everyone's BP goes up so may not be helpful. x

he likes pickled beetroot in his sarnies, would that be ok?
I suppose but he'd need lots. :-) I just drink lots of juice because I love it and my BP is very low. Think you can get beetroot in pill form...could be wrong there. Try Holland and Barrett.x
I thought you had a pencil for those errr situations gness.
I do Tony....a pencil with notches on it but I find the sight of my axe has an immediate effect these days. x
Remind him that spending quality time with Princess Murphy is supposed to help blood pressure problems.

Works for me - well that and three different HBP medications each morning.
LOL didn't want to mention choppers.
I buy low sodium salt. But I find Ramipril helps.
I was told that if I got fit, ran a few marathons, it'd do wonders for my BP.
That was you I saw at the head of the London Marathon then OG? ;-)
How old are you?
In my dreams gness.

So many things I'd like to be the sort of person who likes doing, so little I seem to be enthused enough to do anything about.
I'm a very immature 62...but I guess you mean Fluff. ;-)

im 40 but its not me, its my lodger he's 46.

he needs to see the docs but if i can help with a few foodie changes, then it can't hurt!
Fruit juices are good for nearly everything but for blood pressure try pomegranite juice. It does work...I tried it! You can buy it from Tesco, etc at a very cheap price.

Keep away from Grapefruit juice though...even have warnings about this on the BP tablet box.
