wouldn't non medicinal drugs be stuff like supplements?
I've not heard that expression, what's the context? I wondered if it meant prescription or non-prescription, or drugs derived pharmaceutically (i.e. manufactured) or those from natural causes e.g. homeopathic)?
Not heard of the term non-medicinal, do you mean recreational?
or are you talking baout nicotine and alcohol and the like?
Medicinal drugs cure medical problems or reduce their effects.

All other drugs (such as the alcohol I've recently consumed) are non-medicinal.
I googled - nonmedicinal appears to be "not having a beneficial effect" http://www.thefreedictionary.com/nonmedicinal

whereas, IMO, a medicinal drug would be administered for the benefit of the patient.

ok !! thanks guys !!
(Don't get it confused with medical and non-medical prescribing..... that's different, the doctor or nurse's eligibility to prescribe different classes of drugs when they have undertaken the appropriate academic qualification)

I got 60%!! I was over the moon as 40 would have been a pass. However I was devastated to find out that I cant switch to the degree for my 3rd year!! I done the consent wrong on one of my essays...I thought it would be capped as a 40% but it was marked as a zero when it went to the board...therefore it brought down my average mark for the year to 51.8% To do degree you must have average of 55%. Im clearly capable as my results always range from 60 -72%. But rules are rules so continuing with diploma and will have to top up to degree within a future nursing job! x bet you wish you didnt ask!! LOL
I'm very sorry to hear about that, and very disappointed for you.
However, as you say, you are obviously more than capable. Things have a strange way of turning out - it just wasn't meant to be at this time.
You say you did the consent wrongly - was this patient consent or ethical approval or what?

Question Author
in my first paragraph I said
"the patient will be given a fictitious name of Freda!" in fact I should have said "patient A will be given a fictitious name of Freda"

patient A was on my consent form and this is what was on my consent form. Ill never make that mistake again!!

the top -up to a degree after qualifying is not difficult, but it is hard studying while you are working full time. i would recommend doing it through the open university when you get round to it. also, if you want any help with your studies, i would like to offer my services. i am a rmn with 7 years experience, am doing a masters and teach medical students too (also, i average 70-80 for my academic work). i often help people i work with and will subscribe to this thread if you want to have my email and get in contact. i'd like to help ;-)

Question Author
hi lcg ! do you know exctly what I would need to do to top? I will have 360 credits by the end of course. So is it a case of doing more modules?
yes....normally one has to do a final module and then a dissertation. can't remember off the top of my head how many points, but it will state on the ou website - it is a fantastic university with the best access to books/journals etc i have ever seen. check it out....you can also pay by monthly instalments as opposed to whopping fees at a regular uni x
