I'm actually coming to the conclusion that it is, you know.

I had a text from my Mum late last night. My Dad was snoring and she couldn't sleep. I'm assuming predictive text kicked in, as her text say "I'm fed up fed up". What do you think I thought of? Yep.... :-)
I'm hoping it was predictive text, and not that my Mum really is Desktop. It got me thinking though, I am slightly obsessed with AB, and do mention it quite often, any one of my friends of family could be on here, secretly lurking.
It wouldn't be difficult to spot who I was, I don't think.

I deactivated my Facebook account because I was spending so much time on there. It was my 'new years resolution' to keep away from it for a whole twelve months.
I'm doing well, but I seem to have just replaced that addiction with a new one... AB.

I've been told I have an addictive personality. I go from one thing to another. Currently it's Answerbank. Could be worse, I suppose! :-)

Do you tell friends or family about AB, or is it your own secret thing that you don't want anyone knowing about?
I seem to bring it into the conversation all the time. In fact, my Mum ofetn says to me "oh you and that bloody answerbank".
It is really helpful though, when someone's got a problem, needs something sorting, and you've seen the subject raised on here before.

So, is AB an addiction? I really think it is. I've tried going away from it in the past, but I always come back. I am, without a doubt, obsessed!

Yes. I switch on A/B 1st thing every morning to check what's new, I'm always telling other people how interesting it is looking at the varied & different subjects, & I'm diving in & out at various times of the day so yes I am hooked. WR.

I can see how it can be an addiction for some, but it is not for me.
I think of AB as my secret life as none of my family or friends know about it. They would be horrified to think I was revealing things about them (I don't know why, but the time I posted about MrO's piles springs to mind)
More of a handy distraction for me.

I came off it for a while and actually didn't miss it at all. Completely forgot out it. Then decided to have a look in and reactivated my account. Now I'm on here waaayyy too much again.

As for people I know on here. I know my sister uses it sometimes but I don't know if she knows who I am. I kind of hope not really.
It's definitely an addiction, I creep on during the day to say what's going on, can't help myself.

None of my friends know about this site, unless independently of me of course (hope not) and I've no intention of telling them.

Yeah, that's my concern. I do try and keep things non-personal, but it's difficult. AB is the first place that springs to mind when I have something, well, personal, to ask. In fact, since AB started playing such a consistent part in my life, I have rarely been to the doctors! :-/
Not addictive but certainly quite compulsive at times, im a bit like Mrs O, I do keep AB a bit of a secret from friends and family, except my lovely Carakeel of course.

I'm convinced there's some kind of weird mind control going on, on here.
Are there hidden subliminal messages encrypted in the Orange layout?

I told my psychiatrist Answerbank was like a tube of Pringles. I said "once you pop you just can't stop".
I actually said that :-/ She started writing stuff down in her note book. Probably that I need more appointments with her....
The Net can be an addiction so favoured sites part of that. But you have to enjoy something in life. A number of times in the past I've left sites I visited regularly simply because I felt the need to prove I wasn't dependent on them. On rare occasions (usually when I spot them in favourites) I pop back for a few minutes (where they still exist) to see if they've changed much. They tend not to.

See, I never really 'get' that. Couples using AB together.
My ex once had a problem with some DIY and I remember him saying "I'll ask on Answerbank and see if anyone knows". I was like "Noooooooooo!!!! Don't you dare! Answerbank is MY thing. I will ask".

It's an addiction, and I am going to power down the computer and walk away.

I'll just check the recent posts list first.

Lol. Hoppy, I blame you.... ;-)

How much of an addiction though?
Using the link below, you can work out how many days you have been a member of AB, then divide your total number of posts, Q's and A's by the number of days to find out the average number of posts you make per day,
Mine is 6.89, so I think I'm OK for the moment!

91...?!

Surely that can't be right.
^ I guess it depends if you're including all the posts under your previous user names eh ;-p
I agree. For me I havrdly ever look at facebook anymore and constantly checking on here. Some users, like yourself, brighten up my day.
Question Author
I don't think I've done in right. I can't be posting 91 posts a day!
Argh! sums......I can't do sums
I'm 16.33 which will now go up :-)

HD, I find AB more interesting that Facebook.
Facebook becomes predictable.

Hello, madmen. As you can see, what I really need AB for is to share. I am trying to think of a way to put this - it is very difficult. As you know, I am a bit under the weather at the moment. I can't go out, my daughter does her best but she lives a few miles away so cannot do any popping in, just whenever she can, so what do I do? I share my difficulties with whoever happens to be around on AB. And it makes me feel so much better. The pain is still there but psychologically you have made me well! So, addictive or not, it is what I need. Hope that explains it.
