Anytime I go for blood tests and they get the needle in my Veins collapse. I'm curious as to why this happens and what causes it?

The vacuum in the tube can be too much for a little vein - you need the vacuum to draw up the blood - causing the sides to collapse.

Sqad

Well if the needle is in the vein then who cares if the vein collapses, the needle is IN.

Veins "collapse" when the environment is cold or more likely they are embedded in fat.

PS it's common in people who've had lots of i.v. injections etc - not sure if that's the case with you, though, in those cases the sides of the veins lose elasticity.

Ah thank you Boxy and Sqad. I know I had a lot of IV as a days old baby for about a month and when I had Norovirus I had a few IV drips.

It may be because I'm cold. I have terrible circulation to start with and then they put the band around me.

The needle may be in Sqad but they need what comes out of it lol :)
