Distal Radius Fracture

I had a distal radius fracture in January following a fall. I had the cast removed last week and was given a splint to use. I was not given any advice on when to use it (my fault I didn't ask any questions) and I was given a sheet of exercises. Anyone got any advice on whether is better to use the splint all the time or not. I have still got restricted movements with my wrist and still have a fair amount of pain. My hand tends to swell slightly and I find the splint helps to reduce it. I did call my local hospital to speak to someone in the orthopaedic dept. but received no answers as I could only speak to a secretary.
