said the brother. Fancy a few days with us and a few days away birding to celebrate? Be a nice break...he said.
So I got up early for the son to collect me at 7am. 6am saw me do the most spectacular demonstration of the splits by a 62year old....ever. Down the icy steps went the right leg while the left leg stayed in the warmth of the kitchen.
I knew there was damage...the funny angle of the leg...the pain and the blood were a dead give away. Dammed if I was going to mess up the arrangements so off I limped to Norfolk....birding...in this weather? I did however give in early...missed the final dinner today and came home to visit A&E.
They were fantastic! Can't believe it. Saw a nurse who thought my leg was broken. Can't be....I said...been walking through the icy woods and partying for two weeks!
You're a woman...she said...we can do anything.
I had xrays...made friends with a chap who had spilled the Yorkshire Pudding fat up his arm...and was told I had to see a consultant!!! On Easter Sunday?? He came in minutes.....nice chap.
Outcome is nothing broken...lots of damage...some a bit odd and instructions for recovery.
Have to spend two days with one leg in the air and do nothing....then slowly start moving and gentle exercise......hmmm...will have to let the posties in the bathroom know that...then gradually do things to improve the leg which is probably going to take six to seven months to heal properly...Glory be! I'm off for a Segway day soon...:-( Should be fine for walking in Ireland in June though....I hope. And one area of the leg is susceptible to infection so I have to go back if it gets hot.
If my family practised birth control in June this wouldn't have happened! :-(

Gawd, words fail me!
You really do need to be taken in hand and Ireland needs to be protected! Seriously though, do as you're told, rest up and don't do any more damage.xx
Why am I not surprised :-(
You lead a very exciting life. Hope your aches and pains disappear soon. x
Question Author
Exciting life is not what I shouted as my legs went in different directions.
I wasn't surprised either...funnily enough. I need a hug Crafty. x
Will let you know when I'm in Ireland Psybb.

Am going to do the resting bit....too bloody sore for anything else. :-(
If you've got your silk negligee on, Sqad will do a home visit. Do let me know and I'll alert the emergency services :-)
You do know that was said tongue-in-cheek.. Cause I do understand your hurt and pain.
Question Author
Oh of course Society!!!! I've been joking about it since it happened....even asked the consultant if any "positions" were out of bounds.....though Sqad will advise on that one. ;-)
Oh dear gness.....
Question Author
Oh dear Gness....sounds so nice. All I've had from the family is...Jeeeesus Gness!
Or - BLOODY HELL
Poor old you, hope you feel better soon.
Oooohhhh......we all wondered where you were ..missed you at nungate towers on Saturday...hope it's better sooooooon..xx
Gness, what a disaster. You must be a very brave person. Hope you heal quickly and are not in too much pain, but it sounds like a long recovery process. I am a wow at throwing myself down the stairs. (Not a drop taken).
Oh gness take it easy and recover lovely lady. xxx
Ouuuuuch, take it easy gness.

How was Norfolk by the way? We've had some beauifully sunny days in the east of the county albeit freeeeezing.
Question Author
Ahhh...thank you all...you're lovely. Not brave.....bit bonkers I think and I really thought....hmmm...looks bad but it'll be fine tomorrow. I'm a bit surprised at how long it's going to take to heal properly though.
Norfolk is always lovely Maydup......we go to Thornham to a friend's cottage. Near the birds and good eating.
I'm going to do a "sloopy"

I sit there, contemplate what I have read and shake my head in disbelief

At least it's better than banging my head against the slate work-bench, that I have been tempted to do recently.

Take a hell of lot of care - sounds like you need a nurse.

Perhaps MT would volunteer if he is not going to be adding to the weighty opinions placed here on AB?
Question Author
Evening DT........What's tempting you to head bang? MT to nurse me? No...I think not....no-one deserves that punishment.
How are you? x
Just teasing ré the MT

Patience needed in spades at the moment...........

Things fine otherwise, been fairly busy and not on here much. Picking up a couple of commissions hopefully but need some decent weather.

where's Tinks when you need a nurse? x
