Raised Cholestrol - Why??
20 Answers
Ive recently had blood tests and one of them has come back with my cholestrol being raised, and I am due to go and discuss with doctor next week, but I am baffled as to why it is raised at all.
I have been following a very healthy eating plan for ages now, and everything on the list to avoid foodwise, well I dont eat any of it! Im eating tons of veg, fruit, lean meat and fish, potato and pasts with no butter etc.
Cant see what they can suggest for me to change in order to lower it. Any ideas??

You may have a high cholesterol because.....you have a high cholesterol and the word of the moment is "of genetic origin."......you were born that way.
There are other causes......underactive thyroid, diabetes and one or two other uncommon conditions.
Don't get worked up....there are plenty of people in their 90's with raised blood cholesterol.

I had high cholesterol and tried various statins but the side effects were so horrendous I had to stop taking them.
I eat a very good diet.
Once I stopped taking the statins I started having a bowl of porridge every morning and take 75mg aspirin daily.
Two weeks ago my cholesterol reading was down to 4.
