My Ins Underwriters Does Not Want To Renew My Car Ins Because Of An Incident
I had 7 months ago where I knocked down a pedestrian at traffic lights.which was green when he walked infront of my car. he had slightb head injury. Finally it was established by the Police that I was absolved of all blame and thus asked me to inform my Ins Co
But now the Ins co refuses to reinsure me saying that the case is still open as the other party might still claim in future!. I was not at fault at all. They cannot do this , can they?. Surely If I have to go to another Ins co then then I am still open to a claim. Are they not getting out of a possible claim by not reinsuring me? Am I not defense less in future. Either they be doing something or let me insure with them again? Any ideas as what happenes now?. My renewal comes in 3 days time . I need to do some thing

Yes I'm sure. The incident happened while you were insured by them, so any claims arising from the incident need to be handled by them

If there is a future claim it would be under the insurance provider at the time of the claim, so they can't 'get out' of the claim just because you've changed.
No-one is forced to insure you- shop around but you may find that they withhold your NCD. I would question why they are holding the claim open if you have been absolved- but it may be they have reason to believe the case can't be closed yet

Thank you Factor. Thats why I like Answer Bank. I takes 2 mins to get a response !!. I am relieved when you said' current Ins 'cant get out' of the claim just because I have changed( in this case forced to change) an ins co.
Are you sure on this this point? I will contact them now(up to now I was talking to the broker) Many thanks
