It's Cobblers Now Sqad

Evening Sqad. I saw the orthopedic consultant today. How long do they live? He was a Mr. then. He asked if the remedy he had prescribed for a slight problem thirty odd years ago had done the trick.....good note reader..eh?
He said the MRI scan showed nothing wrong with my spine...I never had a worry about my spine. He stood behind me...I am in black knickers and a gown with the split up the back...and asked me to touch my toes...well, you know me...game for anything. Then he bent me every which way....I lay on the couch and he bent me every which way.
Diagnosis....I have one leg quite a bit longer than the other...I always knew that. I always have had. And because wearing high heels helps it is obviously mechanical and I have to wear one built up shoe. I rarely wear shoes. Do I want a hospital appointment to have some sort of device made or did I want to find my own cobbler with instructions from the hospital?
Well, as the cobbler doesn't charge to park I chose the cobbler.
My symptoms...I said...point to intermediate claudication and the radiologist saw a dark area in my artery. What do I do about that?
Well...he said...if it bothers you, you could have a word with your GP.
Arrgghhhh!!
Cobblers!!!
Luckily the new Precis and Joe Green collections have arrived in town so retail therapy calmed me down.

I was in the same position about 15 years ago, I have a curve in my spine and one leg is an inch and a half shorter than the other.
I was told that i had to have my shoe built up, and was told to choose two pairs of shoes, I attended all my hos appointments, and spoke to people in the clinics that had already had theirs done, everyone I spoke to was sorry that they had gone ahead with it.
They all said that they had more pain than they had before the build up.
When I spoke to the doctor, she explained that as my leg had been shorter for quite a while, my spine / hip etc had adjusted themselves to this,
and when the shoe was built up, this would push everything back to how it should be, basically forcing everything back to how it was ten plus years before and could quite possibly be very painful. I talked to a few more people, and decided against it.
I stopped eveything before any shoes were altered and the hospital accepted my decision and were not annoyed. X

Sparkles...I agree. I have once before been offered a built up shoe and more recently some sort of physio. I think this is just the way I am built and I have no wish to correct it. I have always thought...as you say..shoving it into the "correct" position will do more harm than good.
Also my feet are size 2. I don't wear shoes that can be built up...the odd sling back....flip flops and the bling and no-one is messing with the bling! x

Gness. Sorry but reading all these replies reminded me of an old tale which goes something like this :- A man who had 1 leg shorter than the other, had a son who stuttered very badly.
One day the son said ''Dad i i i ha a ave work work worked out a w w way to alleviate yo yo your le le leg problem''. Dad replied '' What's that then son ?. Ans. wa wa walk with on on one leg on the ke ke kerb & on on on leg in the gu gu gutter. Dad said that's a good idea son I'll try that. A vehicle cut in a bit too close & he ended up in hospital. His son visited him & dad said '' whilst I've been lying here I've thought of a way to cure you're stuttering. Wh wh what's th th that dad. Kep your bleedin' mouth shut. LOL.
