Spoke to the school about boy #2 getting some sort of help for his OCD-like traits (just want someone to arm him with some strategies to stop him worry about everything), the SENCO 'thinks' it would be quicker for me to sort it out outside of school (ie she can't be arsed). Spoke to thing 2's speech therapist, he is doing fabulously, asked her how much longer she thought he would need speech therapy for - 'at least a couple more years' (he has speech therapy EVERY day). Bit deflated really. Anyone got any 'up' news to shre?

Aww Sherr x Could she not recommend someone else who could help?

Hmm, well, despite other urgh stuff my hands are less painful today than they have been for a while so although the side effects of the drugs are rubbish, they may be starting to do some good which is good news :)
How old is he sher? My Grandson was the same but he seems to be growing out of it

Eve - the SENCO is not much use IMO. I am still waiting to see her regarding thing 2 (she only works one day a week so might just be swamped). Glad our hands are a not better.

Mazie - the worrier is 9. Always been a worrier but getting worse. Upsetting himself at bed time, so it's messing with his sleep too. I have had lots of chats with him and he is thinking about the prospect of finding someone to help him deal with stuff (he's not stupid so I haven't sugar-coated it).

Sorry ^ glad YOUR hands are a BIT better, x
Awww. I hope you sort it sher. Mine's nearly 8 and getting much better. He doesn't worry but is scared of most things, but getting a wee bit better. Good luck hon x
Not quite sure how you are supposed to sort it out. Problem is widespread. No one wants to take the responsibility. Tried to get help for a child on the autistic spectrum whom I was teaching from his age of 13 onwards. He was diagnosed as being on the spectrum and that was it. Tried through education, mental health and a very supportive doctor. Zilch. At the age of 16 he was no one's responsibility.
On the 'up' news. My grandson is doing fantastically well, no longer requiring speech therapy.
Mine's so much better since they moved to Scotland the level of support there is amazing.

Thanks Mazie.

Daisy - excellent news regarding your grandson. Nice to hear a success story. I am pleased that thing 2 is getting the help he needs (which I sorted out before he started school), just disappointed at his progress. With regards to my worrier, it makes me so cross that you bring a problem to the attention f the school, etc and they won't help. They know who could help him but can't/won't sort it out. Fortunately, I have the time and sense to sort it out for him, just feel sorry for the kids whose parents can't do the same for them.
Understand your worry Sher. Unfortunately the child I mentioned had been thrown out of school as they could not cope with his problems.
