Well, I was going to leave it.......but it does sound medical and it sounds like Rosacea and would respond to antibiotics. See your GP.

You could try an exfoliator, which removes the dead top layer of skin, then possibly a toner afterwards? I am sure there are a few Beauticians on here who will help more than I can, good luck !
I am not sure what you mean by "enlarged pores"
Is you nose swollen, painful, red, ...........?
I was going to suggest a decent toner too.

Maybe see a beautician for a decent facial to help unclog pores etc...

Otherwise, concealer and foundation, oil free so as not to clog your pores with oil could help. Maybe a thicker matt one. I've heard Estee Lauder do a very good full coverage foundation.

You could always go into a decent department store or large Boots and ask some of the ladies on the beauty counters (I advise going for the ones who are not orange and caked in makeup!).
I should say I have nothing against ladies who are orange and caked in make up, just that many of them seem to think that you also want to look orange and caked in makeup.
Eve would it be best to cure the open pores before applying make up, would the make up clog the pores even more? I know we all look good with a bit of moisturising foundation on ! I do but not orange ... ha ha ..
Well.....as you girls seem to understand the question.....I will "but out."
astringent lotion?
witch hazel is very good for closing pores. You can buy it very cheaply from the chemist's. Just apply with cotton wool and let it dry. It works wonders.

Thank you for your heluitep. No I do not wear heavy make up, just a light moisturiser. My noseis just a little red and tender and these open pores have just appeared. Before someone suggests I will tell you that I don't drink either ( just a sherry at Christmas ).I wonder if Quad can tell me if it is a medical problem. I am in good health and quite fit for my age. Thank you.

For the attention of squad.
Thanks for your advise. I just wondered how long it is since you tried to make an appointment with an NHS doctor. I t would be easier getting an audience with the queen. They say that you should ring at 8am in the morning to be seen that day because they don't pre book appointments. The big problem with this is that everyone is trying to get through at the same time, so it is continually engaged. By the time you get through they say all the a ppointmens have gone,

Society, Please do not take the Micky , we are not all clever devils or are used to using a keyboard. Thank you.
Maybe find a different doctor's surgery?

I rang my surgery at about 11am today after a hospital appointment, had a call back within an hour or so from a GP and was given an appointment this afternoon. Makes a huge difference.

Thank you Eve. There is no other surgery near to where I live. Everyone complains but it does not change. I often wonder how really elderly people ever get an appointment. I seem to remember that you had to be seen within a certain length of time ,, I don't remember how long. Who on earth thinks up all these rules and regulation, at one time you could just go to the doctor and wait, but you would be seen. Thank goodness I don't need to go often.
Glad to get that off my chest.
Awww Leahbee, don't take it in the wrong way. Some of us spell Sqad's name incorrectly at times, and tease him. It wasn't meant to hurt or look-down on you.

Actually it was really meant for Sqad. cause he pulled me on spelling his name wrong before. I'm sorry that you were offended. I apologise to you.

Thanks society. There are such clever people on the answer bank site that I am nervous about joining in for fear of seeming stupid, which I am not really , just not as clever as some of of the users.
