Had my hair dyed yest with a herbal permanent dye. Last night ,being so warm, I sweated a lot, the result being that my pillow is stained very badly with dye. Any ideas on how to remove it, please?

Errr - nope! - new pillowcases - "tuppence a bag" tuppence tuppence tuppence a pillow" The bird lady Mary Poppins.

Oh dear! The protective cover and my nightie are also stained! Tonight I'm going to pin a tea towel to the pillow! Do you think there should have been so much excess dye?
Biological washing powder?
Ellie, did you wash it out properly, til the water ran clear? I dye my hair a lot and have never had this problem, if I was you I'd give my hair a good wash and dry before bed tonight.
poundland -£1.00 for protective pillow case and £3.99 for a nightie -. Be lucky to have hair on your head. All that for a fiver.
Question Author
rocky, my hairdresser did it.

Thank you all for your ideas. One of the drawbacks of the hot weather, I suppose!
you might try colour run remover, quite a few supermarkets stock it.
next time put an old towel across the pillow. that's all I can suggest, this happens with most hair dyes, alternative is let the hairdresser do it and save the mess.
Question Author
Dee sa, the hairdresser did do it! There's normally no bother, it's just this hot weather.
Conne, you do make me smile :)
thanks society for that wee smile - cos I did think I was one of your other irritating posters LOL.
irritating poster,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,no such thing conn. I look forward to your posts, they make me smile :)

Do you think I should try bleach. The protective cover is white. (or used to be!)
if its white, then yes to bleach, but if I have my hair dyed even in hot weather it does not stain. I don't think your hair has been rinsed enough leaving residue dye, rinse your hair and see what colour the water is .
Try Milton sterilizing solution or tablets.
Question Author
Thanks annea and ummm. Will try those.
Not a cat in hell's chance - dump them and buy another pillowcase, it would be cheaper in the long run ('run' - geddit ??!!!)
I'd use the Milton, bleach has a tendency to yellow whites.
