When Women Successfully Diet.
22 Answers
I have observed this and so has my wife many times. When a woman goes on a diet and successfully loses weight and looks fantastic, she will invariably get comments from other overweight women around them, whether it be friends, colleagues or even family. They will say either, 'don't loose any more weight you will be too skinny, or 'I think you have lost a bit too much'. Of course it is just jealousy because they haven't the will power or are too lazy, so they don't want others to succeed. Why can't they just say "well done, i wish I could do it"?

Someone at our work lost three stone fairly quickly. She looked and felt (she said) great. There were some who said she looked ill. She wasn't underweight at all and i found that strange.
I think that unless someone really looks ill (eg pallor, dark circles under eyes etcet,) then its the height of bad manners to comment adversely on someone's appearance. If you think they look ill then you ask how they are or how they are feeling. If someone asks for an honest opinion about how they look, then i would give it if I was sure they really wanted to hear it. If someone had a label sticking out or a wardrobe malfunction then I would mention it discretely. If someone was celebrating having lost weigh then even though i am traditionally built, I would congratulate them. The only other unsolicited comments I would make on someones appearance would be to compliment them. That's just good manners.
