Miss Jones, I Find You So Attractive - You're Fired!
14 Answers
Interesting story that has been rumbling on for a while over in the US.
A male dentist fired a female dental assistant, who, in the words of both himself and, apparently his wife, was a long-term and stellar employee.
The reason for the sacking? The dentist found her too attractive and considered her a threat to his marriage.
The dental assistant brought a case against the Dentist for wrongful dismissing on the grounds of sexual discrimination. I fully expected to hear she had won her case, and thought no more about it.
Surprise surprise! She has lost her case - not only that, but an all-male court rejected her appeal too. Quite shocked by this... what do you guys think?

Interesting that the dentists family pastor was consulted before this action was taken......

Why do people make simple things so complicated. Dentist finds assistant attractive.. ....he makes a pass. She responds and they have an affair...... ......passio nate and exciting. She doesn't respond..... no affair and no threat to his marriage. I really cannot see what part the Law has to play or the need for her to be sacked.

Of course she lost, but not on the grounds that you thought she might have lost on.
Employers, especially private employers, in the United States have a wide latitude in hireling and firing employees and this is pretty much held state by state.
Firing for cause, even stupid causes, less some protection, (sexual discrimination would have passed muster in hiring ) is rather common in the US and upheld often enough to be precedent.
