If you are a female, DONT DO IT. Maybe go for a little layer cut, some low or highlights BUT DO NOT cut too much off the length!!! I beg you

I'd suggest going to your usual salon and having a wee chat with a stylist, they'll be able to tell you what will suit you, suggest alternatives and generally help you out.  Some places may charge you for it, but the majority that I've come across will do a quick consultation for free if you're a regular there.
