what a nit wit..

'I'm a royalist. I love the royal family,' he said by telephone from Romford, but he acknowledged he had no official royal role. 'I came unannounced.'

god I thought that was obvious

the town criers badges sort of gave the game away.

I expected to see the Pearly King and Queen and a close harmonu quartet so to a certain extent I thought the barminess undercooked.

Do you mean people thought he was paid to do that ?
MI5 chex what ?

what about the hacks - were they all checked as they starved and drank their way thro two weeks ?

Time for terrible puns like " Mandarin speaker Xi Wun Le Di - was hassled away and body searched before security screws found she really was attached to the Xin Hua news agency..."
It fooled me...

I thought that it was quite a professional performance........good on him.

Yes, there maybe a question over security.

he wasn't invited, he was in close proximity to the Royals, and everyone thought he was for real, what if he had been someone dangerous, you know, that is what security is for, to make sure nothing goes wrong, and there he is an uninvited guest.
The Town Crier, resplendent in all the apparent Royal regalia (at least to us Colonists) was roundly applauded here in the U.S. (especially by the septuagenarians) for his temerariously presented announcement...done with a nearly casual but living display of the art of sprezzatura.

Admirable!
Question Author
chutzpah you mean, if they had known he wasn't supposed to be there, wonder how the security services would have dealt with it, hardly a good look shuffling the old codger out the way...
No, emmie, I meant sprezzatura... a much better term for this application...
Question Author
interesting, not a word i have come across

sprezzatura e la parola giusta

Lindo wing road outside is a public thoroughfare innit ?
all the hacks werent checked were they ?
Question Author
he was outside the hospital, the hacks, some of whom had been camped out side for weeks were behind barriers i think. William and Kate went over to speak with them...
Brilliant! Long live British eccentricity!

It’s a public street – no one is barred from walking down it. Police were on the door of the hospital to ensure that no one entered who wasn't entitled to - and Kate wasn't the only patient receiving visitors. The hundreds of hacks from all over the world were behind rails to keep the street clear - that's all.

I suspect it started off as a joke and adrenaline got the better of him. I hope he had a laugh and an experience of a lifetime. Good on him, a harmless bit of fun
Question Author
according to an article i found, he has done this numerous times before...
eccentric... i suppose so.
