Citalopram - Another Question.

I've been feeling really great recently and am considering knocking the Diazepam on the head, by halving my tablets and reducing my dose.
What I want to know is, I have this prescription for Citalopram and I was wondering if the effects of this would be 'instant' (like Diazepam), or does it take time to get into your system?

I have spoken to my GP about this, and my therapist, and they don't think I'm "ready". I have found their responses disheartening and frustrating, and I really believe I am ready to 'move on', if you like.

My main concern is withdrawl symptoms, which is why I think taking the Citalopram alongside a lowered dose of Diazepam will be helpful. I'm just wondering if it will kick in straight away though, or can I expect to feel a bit crappy for a week or so?

If I had logged on to this site to post a question about mental health and got the replies that themorrigan has given, I would certainly not return with further questions.
Whilst I'm happy for 'both sides of the coin', I think it is totally irresponsible to make such sweeping statements, and use personal digs at people in order to gain one upmanship.
Nasty, spiteful and completely uncalled for.

Baby sham ignore the unpleasantness, glad you got it sorted may I ask what mg the doc has you on of citalopram?

Hi FGT, thanks for your post :-)
He's given me a 20mg, which having just re-read your previous comment, is nothing! I will take this alongside my 10mg of nightly diazepam, which I will slowly decrease.

I wasn't asking for a debate, nor for anyone to throw out personal insults, I was merely looking for advice. Thank you for yours :-)
I started on 10mg and he upped it after a month I am currently on 80 but that was only because I had a massive strop and didn't know how to cope I will be ba k down to 40 soon I hope

Jeez! I am panicking now that 10 won't be enough!!

I'm ok to just 'go with the flow' though (kind of) and play it by ear. I feel bad now, moaning about myself, when you are on such a high dose :-(
