Thigh Lump
3 Answers
A couple of months back I noticed this solid lump on my left thigh. I couldn't remember knocking the area. I left it for a couple of weeks before I saw my GP. During this time, I had absolutely no pain when I was walking for any length of time but when I'd been sitting & the got up the pain was awful. My GP thought it might be bursitis & decided to send me for an ultrasound scan. Had that last week & the guy said I must have had a sharp knock or even fallen over to have caused it. He told me to return in 12 weeks if its still there or earlier if it gets bigger. Today, I had to travel by bus for about an hour & when I came to get up I just could not put one foot in front of the other as the pain was so bad. When I had the nerve block op recently for my hand tendon problem the pain went completely but has come back worse. I'm going to have to go back to my docs as I can't stand this for another 11 weeks. The strange thing is I have no problem/pain when I get up from bed in the morning...it seems like its only when I sit down.

If nerve kind of pain, maybe a burning sensation, could it be something like this?

I think it can occur in pregnant ladies (not suggesting you are haha!) as the bump can compress the nerve.

hello Eve. thanks for your replies. At 66 years old I'm certainly not pregnant!! lol. Thanks for the link in your first post. The lump is 2 1/2" round. My GP thought it might be bursitis but when the ultrasound took place all he said was that it didn't show anything sinister & he thought I must have had a sharp knock to that area or a fall. Strangely enough I woke in the night laying on that side & had pain & this is the first time I've experienced pain like this. I would describe the pain as like cramp when it first starts. Will be returning to my GP hopefully next week sometime if I can get an appointment that is.
