have you tried washing your finger first?
Did you both use different machines each time, or the same machine twice?
And what was the difference between the results?
Yes, the machines are pretty accurate and as long as thE results don't vary widely, then donT worry.

The important test is a blood test which you can have at the hospital or GP surgery that shows your blood sugar averages over a 3 month period and if you are Type 2 diabetics, that is far mor informative of your sugar control.

Thanks for replies, I have the blood test twice a year, always wash hands before doing the monitor too, Hubby has his own machine and so do I, mine is high today, I had a 15.2 and then 14.8 straight after, he had 2 different results too??
These machines can vary and sometimes even the strips can be faulty. They are just a guide and its only huge variations that should concern. Best thing is to stick to one regularly then it will give a constant reading for you. Fluctuations happen as they do with home blood pressure kits too.
Depending upon when you took those readings, both are very high and i would suggest that you consult your GP or diabetic nurse.I don't think that the small discrepancy between 14.8 and 15.2 is significant in that particular case.

thanks for replies
The readings are quite close enough. Do you really only test twice a year? Because that is quite high.
pixie...you may be getting confused here....she only has a Hb1AC a blood test twice yearly, she clearly tests her blood sugar by pinprick at least on a weekly basis.
Oh yes, sorry...
Its like you may had took in different position both time.
