What To Prepare For Lunch On A Date

Please don't judge me or ridicule me as I am genuinely seeking advice.

I am single as is the lady that I am going to be having a date with. This lady and I met at a party 15 years ago and had a "kiss and a cuddle", but that was all that happened.

Our paths occasionally crossed in the ensuing years, but neither of us were ever in a position to do anything about actually "being together".

I've "held a candle" for her for years(!) and was absolutely bowled over when she contacted me on Facebook recently. We've been exchanging a few texts, e-mails and phone calls and she now wants to come and see me on Tuesday (we both happen to be off work on that day).

Anyway, she has said that she wants to come to see me at home, but only on the proviso that I make her lunch - and no, that's not a sexual term! :)

The problem I have is that I don't know what she likes and, despite me asking her, she simply says "anything, I don't mind".

I want to make a good impression, so does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could cook/buy, etc?

What about a nice omlette?...If you had cheese.. tomato's..ham etc in the firdge.she could choose her filling..put that with some crisp fresh salad leaves... get a nice dessing..and some fresh bread... strawberries & cream/icecream for pud?.. Good luck with your date Mrs C x
Give her some sausage;-)
I wouldn`t do anything too heavy as it`s lunch. How about some home made soup and home made pate? Maybe something like watercress soup to start and smoked mackeral pate which is easy to make.
Most women are so amazed that a man can cook, that frankly ,anything will impress her. Will she expect afters? oooh matron!
Why don't you treat her to lunch in a pub? That way if you don't hit it off you can leave more easily.
Is that the woman who you fancied who worked on a sex line? re. your post to AB in April of this year?

If so....I agree with carrust......sausages may well be the answer.
Sea bass is a good leg-opener;-)
LOL
SurreyGuy states it is someone he met and knew 15 years ago - interesting having said that, that you guys think a woman who works on a sex line to earn money to pay the bills is a lesser person, hey ho.

SurreyGuy

A selection of continental cooked meats, a couple of nice cheeses, good bread and a bowl of mixed sald and as above strawberries and cream to follow.

Good luck.
Stop it you two! I don`t think it`s the sex line lady anyway as the OP said he met her 15 years ago
I am having Sea Bass in a couple of hours, should I take the latch off the door??
I am with Mamya, keep it simple and without going crazy, make sure there are some choices.

Nobody has said that....you have assumed far too much my dear!

It was just pointed out that the OP was asking a similar question some few months ago...hey! ho!
I was going to say either a nice salad, (e.g. warm chicken) or anti pasti selction with some nice breads and olive oil / balsamic dips. It looks like effort but with very little and not overstated or desperate.
Mmy if it has the kind of reaction carrust suggests double lock it!!
So the sausage remark was unconnected....right yes - my dear.
Pasta. Some of the fresh, boil for 5 minutes tortellini that you can get anywhere these days, and a simple sauce. Not a crappy one out of a jar like Dolmio, but a decent one. A simple salad on the side, and some nice bread.

You can't go wrong.
mamy........just a little levity in the post certainly can't be inadmissible.

carrust did put the ;-) icon after his remark.
