I get the visual bit, like a black and white zigzag pattern which I can't see through. No pain until that clears, then I get a dull headache and feel totally washed out.
Try Kool 'n' Soothe they are marvellous.I place one on my forehead at the first flash of disturbance and like magic they stop the migraine from developing and are very refreshing. They can be bought over the counter,I get them from Sainsburys.
Yes, I've started getting them recently, and the first one really scared me- I also thought that I had a detached retina, but went and lay down for about 40 mins, and it disappeared, leaving me feeling generally washed out. I worried about getting migraines as I've got older as my mother used to get very bad ones and would have to go to bed for two days at a time.
I used to get migraines, along with the nausea and vomitting. (lying down in a dark room too, nasty things)
Purely anecdotal, but I heard the drinking a glass of plain lemonade everyday for a year would sort it.
I tried it, whether I grew out of migraines or not I don't know.
I used to find tonic water helpful - I think the fizz helps to settle your stomach.
