my wife is thai, i am british. all the time her friends call to house, some just come to the front living room window and knock it, some ring front door bell and wait, but this one particular woman just knocks slightly once on door, opens herself and invites herself into my house, this woman this morning rang doorbell once and walked straight into my house, i have not been brought up this way, i dont like it one bit !! i understand thai culture , they are different, this morning i told this woman in no uncertain terms to ever ever do this again, i had warned her once allready a few months ago. now it has caused friction between me and my wife.

It used to drive me mad, so dangerous, especially where we lived and it just seemed rude and invasive, having random people you didn't really know just walk into your home.
I figured it was maybe a cultural or personal thing but with that and other issues (drugs, assaults etc...) I moved.
Is your wife aware of the dangers of leaving the door open? It could also impact on any insurance policies that you may have if you were robbed and the door had just been left open so that anyone could have walked in.

I was at a house party once, asleep on the lounge floor alone downstairs on an airbed. My bag and that of a friend was taken from right by me in the night, phones, purses, everything. When we rang the phones these kids were answering!
I had a very hard time trying to sort out my phone insurance as I couldn't guarantee whether the house doors had been locked, as it turned out, probably not as no signs of a break in. I guess something I didn't think about with it not being my house, to my cost.

Its a different culture in Thailand, I know as I used to be married to one and lived, there and here.
I don't know how long you have been married or how well she speaks English but, you should have sat her down when she first arrived and told her the English way of life and what you do and don't do when living in the UK.
In Thailand most Thais just walk into peoples houses and its accepted so have a quite word with her to tell her friends to knock or ring and wait till they are invited in.
Hope this helps
