Warfarin Levels Too High 2 Weeks In A Row 3.6 I Dont Know Why I Want To Come Off It
8 Answers
Hi there
My warfarin levels have been quite high for a while now was on 5mg and 4mg alternate days. 2 weeks ago the level was 3.6 they told me to miss a dose and go back to 5 and 4 I did this today I got it checked it was 3.6 again so I have to miss a dose and go to 4mg daily. I cant understand this it has been fine for 5 months with 6 weekly appointments it was always 2.8 nothing in my diet or medication or life has changed. It is freaking me out a bit I mean what if I have a major bleed or a bang to the head or I have a stomach bleed. I have AF now and again and everyone tells me I am at risk of a stroke as I am overweight and have high cholestrol and type 2 diabetes but I am seriously considering coming off it. Has anyone else had warfarin levels at 3.6 it should be between 2 and 3

He's quite good with his diet, not too much green leafy veg and no offal and he occasionally goes out for a pint or two. Keep on with it, and have a word about your worries the next time you go to the Warfarin clinic..
masma, that's all that happens at a Warfarin clinic, blood test, then update on dosage. Must be better to be able to get it done at GP, rather than have to travel.
Gordie, this is no big deal, all manner of things can cause your level to go up, you may have mistakenly taken too high a dose, you may have had a few beers too many. Either way, do what they tell you and it'll be fine again next time.
