Why Do Some Couples Need Other Couples With Them All The Time?
22 Answers
I know couples who don't seem to be able to go on an evening out or go on holiday without having another couple in tow, it's as though they can't stand being alone together for any length of time. My wife and I are happy in each other's company and don't feel the need to be in a foursome all the time. What do others think?

We often socialise with others because we like them, they're good company, but we go out on our own together too. Plus, some people aren't very confident in public (even as a couple) so tag along with others as a sort of prop.

To answer, I dunno.
We have another 2 couples who we're friends with, and one of them is Mr Boo's best (male) friend, and we're pretty close, but we can go weeks without seeing each other. We used to holiday together in the past, but don't anymore.

dave.......I have a certain amount of sympathy with your point, as one of the advantages and pleasures of going on holiday was to meet new acquaintances which was more difficult than if one had your friends already on tow, so to speak.
Mr.& mrs sqad holidayed with that in mind, but many people are happy to go away with friends and find it more acceptable, perhaps they are shy.
I have seen many friendships imploded by continually being in each other,s pockets.
I suppose that it,s horses for courses.

We have other friends who continually copy other friends - even to the extent of booking in the same holiday hotel at the same time (without being invited to go as a party). That to me shows a) extreme lack of confidence b) no tact c) no imagination d) an assumption that Friends C&D wanted them to be there.
I was amazed when a friend was recounting her holiday in Spain she said-- we were lucky we "palled up" with another couple as soon as we got there !--- I cant think of anything worse than spending your whole holiday with two strangers , surely you go to spend quality time together ? Is seems to be a British thing ?
