My Husband Has Had A Pain In His Lower Back/side For A Few Weeks Now

but these last two days he thought he had the flu coming as he ached all over,had a temperature ,headache and diarrhoea. Today he still has the pain in his lower back/side and just diarrhoea. Any idea what I can give him for it or should he just go to doctors tomorrow.? Many thanks Brenda

ibuprofen for the pain, immodium for the diarrhoea (though sometime if it's just something upsetting your stomach it's better to let your body get rid of it). And yes, doctor tomorrow. Has he done any heavy lifting that might have twisted his spine or tweaked any muscles?

Doctor, definitely - more than a couple of weeks is long enough.

Thankyou. well he did lift two slabs the other week, which is what we put the pain down to. He has been taking ibuprofen and paracetamols but nothing has done any good really. But his flu like symptoms started on friday and was gone yesterday when he woke up but he has had the upset stomach since then.?

Could be anything, but if the pain is on the left side of his lower back, then it could be acute diverticulitis.
It will be assessed by your GP tomorrow.

I've occasionally had temperature and headache with food poisoning, so it might be that. My guess would be it's completely separate from the sore back, but that's for your doctor to say.

Hi sqad, you have hit the nail on the head I think, as he was diagnosed with Diverticulitis some months back. when he had a five year bowel check. But nothing was every said about it. Just that he had it. Ok is there anything he could take then,? something to stop the diarrhoea or just leave it until he sees a doctor. Many thanks Brenda
