After weeks of waiting after the assessment, i got a call last week to say the tests have gone to Psychiatrist, but Camhs think my daughter does have ADHD. Had appointment with Psychiatrist today, who confirmed it. He is suggesting a mix of medication and therapies. Apparently, they rarely use Ritalin any more, but there is another form of medication (not sure of the name) which they are going to try her on. She needs a baseline obs test, as it can increase pulse and blood pressure and then we'll go back and they'll start her on low dose. Not entirely sure about medicating her (although probably safer than current behaviour). Also, surprised the drugs they use are stimulants! (God help us :-)). They should just give her time to consciously think between the thought and action. We will see...

Good Luck. and I really hope they can help her. I do not know the age of your daughter but our granddaughter is now 16 and to be honest no better. She was diagnosed at 12 after years of trying to get help and getting someone to do something. The tablets they gave her made her lose a lot of weight and she felt ill. So they stopped them and tried another. Sadly...

Every good wish for your to be successful. Brenda xx

Thank you very much, lilacben. My daughter was 16 last month, but her behaviour really seemed to start about 12/13. We had meetings at school, i changed her school and all sorts of things. Last year a few of her teachers independently asked me if she had been assessed for ADHD. I was a bit sceptical, putting it down to teenage/ headstrong character. It took 6 months to get an assessment and another 2 for the results. Sqad described it as "a white-knuckle ride". Which it is! x
