Absolutely Ellipsis, a spokesperson for ‘pride in sport’ on Sky news said that there were not enough gay/lesbian sportspersons, there should be 10%. Given that only 1.5% of the population self identify as gay/les. I wonder how they are going to achieve this ‘quota’. Perhaps a recruitment drive is coming or perhaps they are going to convert existing heterosexual sports persons. I’m all for equality but not for over-equality :o)

Or perhaps he's telling the truth. He's only 19 years old - maybe he still has residual feelings for girls. That may fade over time, and he may self-identify as gay, or the feelings may remain, and he will self-identify as bisexual.

I suggest that not everything is based on cynical greed, and having met the young man several times, I would further suggest that he's very likely being honest. Having watched the video, it seems to be coming from the heart.

sp, What I am thinking is... Why would the incidence of homosexuality (lesbians included) be any different in the sporting population than anywhere else in society? do you have facts to back up your suggestion that it is different. Is it higher or lower in the arts, sciences, professsions?. Why would anybody think that it's distribution is anything other than uniform. Does anybody care?
