Is gel nail varnish very different for other nail varnish? I thought I would buy some but I think I heard it is difficult to remove. Any help would be appreciated.

The only gel varnish I have tried is Barry M's (Gelly Paint). It's super shiny, lasts well and is just as easy to get off as any other. Maybe that's not what you mean by gel varnish (I know if you have gel nails done in salons only they can get it off but they use something different).

Thank you very much Prudie, I have never heard of Barry M's Gelly paint.
I have been onto Amazon and seen all the lovely colours, a great price too, thanks again.

Very interesting Woofgang ! Thanks for the info
Some salons use a clear gel on top of the manicure to make it last and it is blue murder to get it off. (At least 5/6 separate attempts with n/v remover!).
nails inc - use and sell it so maybe thinking about this. Costs about same as their nv - £11 or £12.
Brill unless you have to take it off.
the red carpet stuff has a special removal system.
Just had a look woofgang..thats worth knowing.

i know people rubbish qvc, but they sell the red carpet system and do long and detailed demos.
If you have a gel manicure at a salon, you have each coat set under ultra violet light. It lasts better than a normal manicure, but it is horrible to have removed - you have acetone soaked cotton wool pads wrapped round your nails, held in place by silver foil, for 15 mins or so. Then, they scrape the gel off with a stick (think its called an orange stick). Gross. But some people like it.
Forgot to mention - they file across your nails with an emery board before putting the gel on. What with that and the scraping off, I think you need strong nails to start with.
