I had a large very itchy mole surgically removed from my back about six weeks ago and had 5 stitches. It all healed up very quickly but the area where it was is now starting to itch again.
I know wounds can itch when healing but this now long healed and the itch feels like it did before removal.

The GP, said he thought he had removed it all but do you think he may have missed a bit and it is growing back again, there is no sign of it growing back, just the itch.

It could be scar tissue.

I itch awfully with the smallest wounds so to me it would be normal. If it's not normal for you then go back and get it checked.

I have loads of moles and the docs said to go back if I have the slightest concern.
Ratter...take a photo of it so you can monitor it.
No big deal.
Just smear hydrocortisone 1% cream on it.
I presume it was sent for biopsy which confirmed the diagnosis of a mole?

I rarely itch, that is why I am a little concerned it may come back, there isn't much to take a photo of really, its totally healed.

Im not really bothered by this to be honest, its just the itching bit that annoys me.
Stop saying 'no big deal'

You are not in the consulting room with him!!

Sqad, yes I believe so, I would have heard if it was anything more sinister I'm sure, yes cancer was a bit of a concern at one point.
OK...then no big deal....just use the cream that I suggested.
scratch it !!!!!!!!!! good its nothing sinister.
Question Author
Anne, I do scratch it, I have a long screwdriver next to my PC specifically for that purpose, I cant reach it without the screwdriver!
what you need is a proper back scratcher, be careful not to break the skin though ,
Ratter15 - a salad server makes a great backscratcher.
Question Author
I think that the good lady would get a little agitated if I start scratching my back with our salad server lol

But thanks for the suggestion.
