I only drink black coffee no milk or sugar, so would cutting this out help? I am also partial (very much so!) to diet coke, whether dieting or not. I just read of someone who completely stopped drinking coffee whilst dieting; I just wondered how it may have helped?

No.
i don't think it has any bearing on weight loss, generally it's cutting out fats and sugars, eat in moderation, and try no dairy produce,
exercise as well, combination should bring the weight down, the only effect to less or no coffee is a headache to start off with as it has side effects to caffeine withdrawal, once you cut the coffee out for good, the headaches eventually go, this was from experience.
Caffeine is a stimulant. Diet drinks are bad for you.
I guess if you like chocolate biscuits with your coffee?
agree sqad -I can think of a few reasons why it may help an eentsy teentsy bit

has a very weak fenfluramine action which is an appetite suppressant.
Diet Coke is a major contributor to your ph levels in a very bad way....Acidic ph is apparently very unhealthy and opens up the doors to disease and illness....

Matheous; that link makes very little sense...given that your digestive system depends on the strong hydrochloric acid in your stomach!
Gingebee....ph levels that 'count' are in blood, saliva, and urine. I'm afraid that's about the extent of my knowledge, so I won't argue with ABrs who are medically qualified!
