- 2 x Broken toes (smashed one on the vac cleaner & one on a bed castor - it hurt).
- Fractured collar bone (slipped on ice at work).
- Damaged knee cartlidge (staring at a gorgeous life guard whilst climbing out of a pool & up the metal steps - serves me right).
- Damaged nerve in neck (running up the stairs, tripped on top step, fell forward & hit top of my head against landing wall).
- Badly bruised neck & back (standing on chair at a wedding taking a photo, chair slipped, I fell, the chair hit my neck & back with such force, I knocked myself out & was carted off to hospital for x-rays)
That's about it really!
broken wrist as a child hospital treament but no biggie
Tore muscles in both calves as teenager absolute agony and off legs for two weeks (stayed indoors, went everywhere on my bum and spent all my time resting with legs up on settee)
fell downstairs bumping from step to step on my bum about 10 years ago, result coccydynia for about 3 months again absolute agony but no lasting effects
so all in all a pretty uneventful life
You will not beat this!! Didnt happen to me, but I witnessed this one in 2001 as a first aider in Oz.
Aussie rules player had dislocated hip.................physio tried to pop it back in on pitch immediately...................did so...........................forgetting that this guys scrotum was in the way....................scrot jammed between pelvic joint....................never heard a scream like it!!
fell off a wall and fractured my skull at 18 months, so I can't remember that one.
Xmas 99- skiing far too fast down an iced-up black run, fell at top, skidded for what felt like about 3 hours and was saved from going over the edge into oblivion by a tree. Only cracked three ribs though which was slightly disappointing!
My dad let an M&S door close on my forehead when I was 3. 8 stitches.
My favourite involves some imagination and a tricycle. When turned upside down, my tricycle (I was about 4!) turned into an ice cream factory. I sat on the bottom of the seat and operated the pedals with my hands. Turns out I decided to 'lick' the ice cream (the spinning whell). Split my bottom lip very nicely.
Actually, there is one more injury that has resurfaced from suppressed memory... I think I'll leave that one though. Makes me whince thinking about it.
- Sprained wrist fighting with my brother when I was 8
- Broke several bones in my foot by dragging the aforementioned foot behind me (rushing to answer the phone with a dead leg)
- Chipped a bone in my ankle and tore ligaments tripping over wires in work
- Dislocated my knee doing yoga
Accident-prone, moi?
I am hoping that nothing else is going to happen to me.
I do not ski, rollerskate, or do anything else that may be even slightly dangerous. Boring now.
Ripped the end of my middle right finger off whilst opening a can of corned beef.
Had it sewn up but it got infected under the nail which became loose.
Said nail was then subsequently ripped off just as it healed.
During the secondary healing process I stubbed my toe and that nail fell off too
Weird thing was it was my middle right toe. Strange.
Nearly forgot:
- Very badly bruised back & buttocks (I was carrying an armful of washing down the stairs late at night, couldn't see a thing in front of me, trod on the cat who was stretched out asleep on the second from top stair, she meowed & shot off, I panicked, fell & bumped down every step until I reached the bottom. The washing was all over the place, but husband & kids were fast asleep in bed & never a damn thing).
