Paroyxsmal Atrial Fibrillation Went To A And E Sent Home I Felt A Fool
4 Answers
Hi there I have Atrial Fibrillation had it for years and I am on a betablocker and warfarin every day to prevent a stroke INR 2.5 last time checked a couple of weeks ago. Last night I experienced an episode of AF going into it and then coming out of it every 10 mins for just over an hour my pulse was just under 100. I got a taxi to A&E and they did an ECG which was normal I was in a stage of being out of it when I went up. I saw this really nice doctor who told me that as I am on warfarin there is nothing really to worry about he said that people can be in AF for years without knowing about it and only find out once they have had a stroke however as I am on warfarin much less likely to happen. He said if it happens again dont panic about it but if it happens for more than 72 hours go to a and e then because I might need a drip or an electric cardioversion. I feel completely mortified they were so nice though.

If we were all qualified doctors, we would know whether to go to a&e or not. For most of us, it's a judgment and there was obviously not something right, so you weren't wasting their time. I hope you're reassured now for if it does happen again. But i think you made the right decision at the time. That's all most of us can do x
