I recently downloaded the free Windows 8.1 update to my wife's Laptop with no problems whatsoever.
A relative recently purchased a Windows 8 Laptop. I told him there was a free update to version 8.1 available and offered to show him how to do it. As far as I can see the only way to get this update is from the Windows "Store" App.
Selecting the Store app from the Metro list opens up the desktop and not the Store app. Going to the search facility and typing "store" then selecting "store" just brings up a blank dark blue screen. Nothing I try opens the Store app.
I have tried typing wsreset.exe to refresh the apps but that wouldn't work either.
Any advice as to what is causing this problem would be welcome.
Thanks for your suggestions Buenchico. I'll give them a go when he is able to bring his laptop over again. I know he's busy for the rest of this week.
As the laptop is only four weeks old I wondered if a system restore might help after he'd gone home. That's assuming one was created in the first palce.
