My 22 year old son is having one of these fitted next week. My question is, should he come off his beta blockers and anti-depressants before having it fitted?

I would have thought that he should come off his beta-blockers but not the other. If so, how many days before the monitor is fitted should he stop taking his medication?

He getting very anxious about it all especially as his appointment letter did not contain any further information.

Many thanks

discuss with doctor, hospital, they should advise on all treatments. Generally you get a letter as to what to do, i wore one for the 24 hours and had to tell them any medications. Didn't stop taking the stuff, they just had to know what it was. I would call them and ask if unsure.
All relevant info should be in notes he received with appt ..if not see gp
if he has not been given instructions to stop medication, then don't. why is he so anxious, its painless.
perhaps he's anxious other what to do, take meds or not.
i would call the hospital. or doctor who is treating him
Unless you have been given instructions to come of the medication, then he should not.

If in doubt, either phone the clinic where his appointment is at, or phone your GP to ask for confirmation.

Thanks guys and gals. I'll get him to give them a call.

He's just anxious because he ended up in hospital with a heart rate of 192/min. Ended up having to have Adenosine for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia - scared the life out of him (and me!)
I can understand his anxiety :) Don't stop any medication unless told explicitly to do so by his supervising medical professional though :)
If he is having a 24 hour monitor because of bouts of tachycardia, then he should stop his beta blockers, but it is inadvisable to stopp beta blockers abruptly.

This investigation appears ill thought out.

See your GP.
he should not stop his beta blockers unless told to by the hospital team.
