Himself used to play some on line game and stopped. Now some bloke (who used to be in his 'gang' in this game) wants to buy his 'stuff' for $500. I (obviously) don't understand any of this, but $500!
Real money. Apparently it does happen a lot, but himself is in the top 100 players of this particular game on a particular server (no idea what that means). I've just told himself not to accept bitcoins :( (no idea what they are either).
I don't see an issue with virtual stuff having value. One could consider weird buying a concert ticket as later on you have nothing to show for it. In both cases hopefully one gets entertainment. If it is worth $500 worth of entertainment then fine. Especially if they manage to sell the same stuff on for more later.
I sold my online gaming life for a nice sum. I won't say which game it was because it is strictly against the rules but I did have years of fun playing.
Ah bless, himself has gotten all giddy waiting for the 'money' to transfer - I think he is going to be disappointed (but if he's not, I'm banking on a curry this weekend).
