Did they have a feel up there?
I have a number of gastro symptoms but they seem to be caused by different things, IBS, a malabsorption condition, issue with cow's milk and excess fibre, acid issues, yeast issues etc... Gallstones also caused issues before I had it out a few years back! So there may be various more innocuous causes, they won't necessarily add up to a more sinister diagnosis. It's often the most simple, common answer though any issues in that area need checking out and investigation if appropriate.
I was getting a lot of pain and discomfort in that area, blood, mucus, itching, feeling of not emptying etc... A few GPs had felt up there and said no piles. So I thought maybe issues caused by the chronic (and often burning diarrhoea I get) or maybe something like a fissure. I raised it with my gastro consultant who said he thought it could be piles, even though the GPs hadn't found any. I had an endoscopy done by a surgeon the other week and, sure enough, piles! They "sorted" them at the same appointment.
Hope you have more luck when you next see the doctor.
