I can't believe the Times' April Fool's day spoof is actually the cryptic crossword. Half the clues fit the grid, the others don't. Spoof anything else you like, Crossword Editor, but hands off the crossword. That's sacred.

In that case, the next day's issue carried an apology (for a "technical problem" IMS). I was expecting something similar for this case - but nothing. In fact, the following issue had a solution grid, as if no problem had existed! The across clues made sense, the down clues... maybe modern Times staff only make an effort for the digital product.
