I used to do over and abover the 10k steps you are supposed to do a day, but I walk into and home from work everyday (which is 2miles each way) as well as about 50 laps around the office on a daily basis. I was actually quite surprised that despite the amount of walking I do on a daily basis it was only coming up to 14k, I thought it would be much much more.
My hubby went to the local paper shop and clocked up 400 steps on the way there. On the way back he clocked up over a thousand, using exactly the same route! (Except reversing it of course).
I bent down to tie my shoelace and clocked up ten steps. So we concluded that they are not very reliable and scrapped the idea.
