The new rule from today is a £10 spend on groceries for a 'free' newspaper instead of £5. I think tea and coffee rule stays at £5. Will it stop you spending £5 per day to get a paper??

Sounds pathetic
I can't believe anyone chooses their supermarket based on whether they get a free newspaper or coffee but obviously they do.
I go to the nearest one. But all things being equal a free paper on Saturday seems a good way to attract customers
never did so no it won't stop me
i'd first have to start spending money at Waitrose before i'd have to make a decision as to whether to stop spending money at Waitrose

It saved me almost £5.50 a week in newspapers, and I just bought things I needed anyway. No more though.

Perhaps tea and coffee are free, and you don't have to spend £5. Not sure about that...
I didn't realise you got a free newspaper and coffee for ages after I started shopping at Waitrose, so it didn't play any part in my decision to shop there.
Anyone can walk into Waitrose and get a free coffee. They simply have to ask for a temporary loyalty card and then take that to the till. There's no need to make any purchase.
Shopping is dash in, buy what you must, dash out. No messing about with coffee or papers.
In ours, you just help yourself and walk out - no-one asks you for anything
Tea and coffee are free to cardholders.
