Hi everyone,
I wish it wasn't true and that I didn't have to confirm this, but sadly Fred passed away on the 26th of April. His funeral was today.
I was his partner for the last four years and I knew how much he loved this site and he thought of you as friends. In his last weeks with us I had been keeping an eye on different discussions here and reading him some of your posts. He was too sick to type but enjoyed hearing what was going on here.
Everything you knew about Fred from this site was the way he really was. He was a gentleman. He was a true eccentric, very, very clever, kind and witty. I'll miss him so much.
He was diagnosed with liver cancer in early January and given one to two years to live. We made the most of our time together and had a fantastic trip to New York in February. Then he went to his beloved Crufts in March. Sadly by mid March it was clear he was getting tired and we were told that in fact he had only weeks left. We brought him home from the hospital and he died peacefully in his sleep last Saturday.
I feel privileged to have known him.
Thank you all for making Fred so welcome and valued in your community. You were a big part of his life.
