I just went out and bought one. I don't really want to quit smoking; just cut it way down both for health and financial reasons. A carton of cigarettes, the cheaper ones, is now $62 which is about 33pounds. Anybody on here using one of them? What are your impressions of them?

£33 for 200 cigs? It is £70 to £85 here in UK.

No kidding...That's pretty steep!
OH is using one. He's been on it since the new year and seems to be managing very well with it.
Your fags are cheap compared to ours, stewey. Sorry I can't answer your op though, I haven't tried one yet.

Horseshoes, that sounds promising. Any idea as to how much he's cut down on "real" cigarettes: 75%, 50%...etc.
I used one in an attempt to quit, along with champix.
The Champix was the real hero, but the E cig addressed the need to have occupied hands.
4 years clear next month.
I've had one suck on one (I smoke) and I doubled up coughing. Maybe I sucked too hard..
Well done you, ferlew.

So, ferlew, you obviously wanted to completely quit, and you did, so that's great. The difference is I don't want to quit: just cut way down.
I actually didn't want to quit, Mr F was about to be put on Oxygen at home. Smoking wasn't an option.

Prudie, I noticed that too. There are different settings for how much "stuff" you inhale: I'm on the lowest setting .

Anyway, thanks for the comments. I'm now going to wend my way across the field with a couple of cigarettes and my new toy...Cheers.
100% Stewey. He hasn't had a real ciggie in all that time.
Stewey.....I quite liked ecigs.....but I think they may have caused me problems.....
I can't be sure but if the chest infection I had didn't cause the ear problems I'm having now....I have a sneaky feeling the ecigs did.....I stopped....☺

I just read that, horseshoes, as I was about to shut down...Great! See you.
Awwww, bless ya Gness xx GWS
I was like you once upon a time, stewey. Loved smoking, no way was I going to stop smoking - I even timed things by how long it took me to smoke a cigarette.

Had no choice but to stop in 1994 due to a health scare. Six months of hell but I've never looked back. I think what finally helped me was Alan Carr (the author of the stop smoking books) making me realise that smoking doesn't release stress and tension, it's the need of the next fag that causes it.

Anyway, good luck with the cutting down.
My wife tried ecigs but in the end found the only way was to just stop. She has finally stopped now at age 58 after smoking since she was 14. It was the cost more than anything , the cheapest fags here in UK are just under £7 a pack while the top brands are near £9 a pack.
Yes ^^ they are a health risk but a far far smaller one than tobacco smoking.
