Love On The Motorway
34 Answers
Last Sunday we had reason to stop for half an hour on a motorway service station so had a costa coffee to pass the time.
While we were sitting there, we watched a couple not in their first flush..probably approaching 60..canoodle, snog (properly snog, tongues and all by the looks), nuzzle each others necks/ears/cheeks, and generally behave like a couple of love sick teens. It was quite sweet, and quite nauseous, in equal parts. We were enthralled. And curious.
It was about 10am, they were already there as we arrived and still there as we left. We had various scenarios in mind as to what their story was...
What do you reckon??

1. They were part of a serious sociological study, set up by the local university, to gauge the reactions of the public to open displays of affection among the more mature members of society. You, and all of the other customers, were being secretly filmed.
2. As above except that the filming was for a new fly-on-the wall show for Channel 4, instead of for a university.
3. They were undercover cops, trying (badly) to look normal while waiting for the drug dealers to arrive.
4. They were extra-terrestrial beings trying to look normal (but who had failed to sufficiently research the British Earthlings way of doing things)
or, maybe, just maybe . . .
5. They were just two people very much in love?

Teenage sweethearts torn apart by his evil mother, they both married other people but never forgot each other. He was left a lonely widower so his daughter encouraged him to join Facebook. Imagine his surprise when he received a message from his long lost love, now divorced. Reunited after all these years they are making up for lost time and feel like teenagers again.
