Elderly Father Wetting The Bed

Hi, my dad who is 73 has been wetting the bed nearly every night for about six months, my mum is at the end of her tether about this as he is refusing to tell a doctor about the bed wetting.

About 10 months ago my dad had a water infection diagnosed from a routine water sample, despite lots of previous anti-biotics it has only just cleared up, as his water infection lasted for so long his gp referred him to the hospital where he had a scan on his kidneys, blood test, a camera to check his bladder and also a thorough check of his prostrate, doctor thought prostrate was slightly enlarged but he wasn't worried as he said it was normal for his age.

My dad also has an hernia which has dropped to his testicles which he is awaiting an operation for again a doctor at the hospital has checked this, is this what could be causing the bed wetting if not what is?

Yebutt, nobutt, yebutt - I'm picking up on DDL's mum being overstressed, and washing / drying bedlinen and clothes isn't free, so maybe it's money worth spending.....I get an online shipping order every couple of months for a relative, and it works out well all things considered. Better than the alternatives, at least.

Cheap if you only need one at night. Expensive if you need say 8, 9, or 10 per day.

He is entitled to free pads on the National Health. His doctor has to refer him to a local service and your mother could contact them on his behalf. In Sussex it is known as the Bladder and Bowel Service and there must be a similar one near where you live.

The incontinance service is good, organised through g/p and d/n come out to do the assessments but there is only a maximum they will give you, and where we live they do not provide inco sheets, you have to buy those seperately, depending on age you can get vat free when buying them, hope your dad gets better soon, x

while he is waiting for medical intervention he should wear some night time incontinence pants , you can get them on prescription if he goes to doc..or buy in chemists..
