Look at Hotter shoes ...... they are so comfortable and some are even stylish!! Expensive but last for ages and ages .... been wearing a pair for 3 years and lots more wear left ....... look at their web site.
Crocs are good. But I always buy either Clarks or Hush Puppies for work and I am on my feet all day. Make sure the shoes have a good instep and not too high a heel. I usually buy my shoes of ebay or clarks on line or wait for the sale.
I usually get mine from Clarks as well. For me, they have to be leather, have a slight heel (not narrow), wide enough for the foot to spread throughout the day and they must have a breathable lining (definitely not plastic)
ECCO shoes are the ones I would choose for "on-my-feet" shoes, especially the classic lace-up type. Comfortable with good support and don't make your feet too hot.
Hi Zoe
I used to stand all day as a seating steward at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and wore Doc Martens - excellent. I think you must be female (the name gives it away !) so not sure if Doc Martens would suit. Otherwise a decent pair of trainers/walking shoes with extra supprt in the heel - North Face make some really good ones, rather dear but well worth it for the support and comfort. Millets have some on sale at the moment with some vg reductions.

Thank you everyone, I can see an evening of coffee, cake and googling ahead of me.
@black_cat51, nothing wrong with it I just assumed that by casual wear the footwear is designed for wearing casually rather than offering good support and comfort for long periods of standing. They are for a friend, not me, I spend most of the day sat on my bum :)
Can't beat Doc Martens (yep, they are still made!). Admittedly you have to wear then for a couple of days to get them comfy but once that's done they are fab. On websites there are a whole range of colours and styles, plus they last forever!
well, i suppose the only way you could get more casual than crocs is flip flops, however, all the nurses seem to wear them at our local hosp and theatre staff have worn similar for years
