A girl I work with is 7 weeks pregnant and is unsure what to do. I told her to make up her mind as the earlier she decides if she wants to terminate the easier it is (I presume)... but she has told me that after 6 weeks it's not a case of taking a couple of pills and having a 'heavy period', and it involves an invasive operation... Is this right? When I've googled it all I get is pro-life and nothing constructive to support the woman if she's not in a position to keep the child (which surely would be better all round in the long run)... toughie I know, but any advice I could pass on would be gratefully recieved (and I know I've spelt recieved wrong for all you wordies out there!).. Cheers

Cutting it fine........a "medical abortion " is OK up until 7 weeks of pregnancy.....perhaps 8 weeks.

Thanks for that link Scorpiojo... so she can have a medical one within the next couple of weeks and after that the suction thingy.. I know it must be a tricky decision to make (she's only 22 with a 2 year old from another bloke), but she is an old head on young shoulders and is over-thinking it (in my opinion) but should have been clever enough to use a condom.. sillly girl!!

Thank you all for your useful links.. I shall pass them on to her... she went to see her doctor so I presume it was him that told her the medical deadline was 6 weeks... so she has a couple of weeks in lieu of having to do the operational route of she so decides... Thanks again... hh
You're welcome, hippyhoppy.
Apparently taking the pills can be very painful and drawn out. If I were her I'd opt for a termination under general...

The girl might not have been "silly" Clanad. A condom can be faulty and people have been known to get pregnant even when on the pill.
Anti Abortion brigade are out I see. I'm neither for or against. This is a decision for the Mother. No one knows her circumstances, so do not make judgements on YOUR own feelings.
Clanad/anne - please don't start a judgmental and/or emotional debate here - it's not appropriate.

I'm reporting the (ir)relevant comments.
Im with Jeza, the question title is 'facts needed'.
I believe the rule in serious sections such as this are to answer the questions and not to offer opinions.

We don't know the circumstances Clanad so we cannot judge.
Clanad - start a separate thread - I'll continue to report all irrelevant posts here.

You do not know the circs Clanad.

It is very difficult not to be emotive about this subject, but as stated solutions weren't asked for - facts were.
