How Can I Be Better At Tap Dancing?
10 Answers
Hi there, 5 years ago I started tap dancing at expressions dance. These past two years it has occurred to me that the principal of the school wasn't pushing us and was always stressing us over her life so I decided to try somewhere else. So today I went to Carter-chan performance centre and enjoyed the way it's strict straight forward but in the end the teacher is actually real nice. As you might or might not know tap every where has the same basics but I was changing from performance tap into street tap. So some were ok but there was some very hard fast ones that I know the parts of just can't perfect it all together. The teacher believes sooner or later I will be able to be like the rest but I think I need some support. What can I do as an individual to become a better dancer? Please no hate or rude comments. Thanks for reading and please comment below. Thanks :)

I got up to Gold - and even then went on with lessons - and found it difficult to see a routine ( on the street ) and then go and reproduce it.
One of the other punters, - you know the triple time thingey ? - her group as teenager had got it up to quintuple time....
impressive.
and you know you listen to the 5-toe-taps instead of one and think - Gosh !
Brucie managed to tap with hip replacements and I honestly dont know how he did it....

No expert but as I understand things, it's practice practice practice.
Talk over your difficulties with the teacher you have, they may be able to suggest what to concentrate on.
Or, and I hate to suggest it, maybe some moves are so hard only a lucky few manage them. But that's no reason not to give it your best shot.

I tried tap dancing once but I kept falling into the sink!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry about that pearlz, couldn't resist.
I expect tap is like anything else, to get to a high standard takes a great deal of practice and concentration. Try and get more quality out of your training as you sound to be at a high level anyway and what about some stretching out of class, eat properly and stay healthy.
In rowing they say distance makes champions and I guess tap is the same.
