Monoclar Vs Binocular
i have poor uncorrectable sight in left eye and only wear one contact lens to correct my right eye.
I am looking at buying some binoculars for a holiday as the little one i have for the garden birds isnt man enough.
I only see the right eye picture as my brain will automatically cancel out the left side (prevents double vision).
Would it be better to get a monocular rather than Binoculars. (half the weight and size to carry about) but are they more awkward to use etc.
thought gratefully received

Have you got a RSPB Reserve near you as many sell Binoculars and Monoculars at their Reserve shops.
Some advice from the 'experts' would be valuable before you spend some serious money on Bird watching equipment

i am doing an alaskan cruise so will be traveling by boat and plane to the bear watching sites plus any whales there might be lurking about. so would have the extra weight not sure if the viewing platforms have solid handrails to rest a small tripod on? good idea tho to visit just don't want to be bamboozled in sales pitches.
Thanks tho

I'd opt for the monocular. One like this which comes with a mini tripod but could also be used with a gorilla type tripod
